This debut album from pianist Eric Zuber features three brilliant works from Chopin’s youth, when he had aspirations of becoming a touring concert pianist. First on the album will be the ebullient Variations on “Là ci darem la mano, Op. 2, which presents a number of highly intricate and challenging variations on Mozart’s famous aria from the first act of his opera, Don Giovanni. The second work, Andante Spianato and Grande Polonaise, Op. 22, showcases both Chopin’s tenderness and lyricism in the Andante, and his spirited virtuosity in the noble Polonaise. The final work on the album will be the beloved Piano Concerto # 1, Op. 11 in E minor. This work spans the gamut of human emotion, beginning with the dramatic first movement, through the poignant second, and finishing with the delightful and charming third. The Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra is the featured orchestra under the direction of Wilbur Lin. Album includes liner notes written by acclaimed author Stuart Isacoff.
